The 2014 small grants scheme has been launched by the Fare network to fund activities as part of the Football People action weeks in October. The two-week period (9-23 October 2014) will bring together thousands of groups to celebrate diversity in football and counter intolerance and exclusion.
Applications can be made for up to €400 to implement activities that aim to tackle discrimination, promote social inclusion and bring people of different communities together through sport at local and regional level. Successful groups will join the thirteen Event Grants awarded groups to put on significant events.
The scheme will fund activities that involve and propel the inclusion and empowerment of migrants, ethnic minorities, refugees, asylum seekers, LGBT communities, religious minorities or disabled people.
In 2013, 1,500 activities were held in 46 countries as part of the campaign. Around 250 grants were awarded in 42 countries, a total of €83,800 was allocated in grants.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be fan groups, NGOs, ethnic minority organisations, grassroots clubs, among others, based in Europe
- Proposed activities must take a clear stand against discrimination in football and promote the sport as a tool for inclusion.
- Proposed activities must be implemented during the Football People weeks period, between 09 and 23 October 2014.
- Proposed activities should meet one or more of the following objectives- fight discrimination, celebrate diversity, improve the representation of minorities and women in football; develop ideas and new practices that challenge exclusion, use football as a tool for empowerment, social inclusion and education.
