The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is seeking applications to close the gap between standards development and implementation. It support efforts to increase access to health care, protect those in greatest need, expand educational opportunities, and modernize the nation’s infrastructure.
The main purpose is to establish a mechanism for ongoing cooperation between Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and Health Level 7 International (HL7). It aims to provide specific dedicated support to HL7 for work on HL7-led standards development as well as corresponding implementation guidance and testing concepts of mutual interest to ONC and HL7.
