The International Growth Center (IGC) is accepting proposals from researchers for projects relevant to growth policies in developing countries.

Programs
Research Programs – focused on the production of cutting-edge and policy-relevant academic research that goes towards informing effective policymaking on economic growth in developing countries. The IGC will sign contract with institutions only, not individuals.
Country Programs – focused on tailoring top-quality research with the specific growth policy needs of the IGC’s partner countries.
IGC Partner Countries – Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, India – Central and Bihar, Liberia, Myanmar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Other countries of IGC interest include Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi and Afghanistan.
In case of Institutions’ research department applying for the project grant,
- Grant funding will be managed by the institution (NGO, university, etc.), not the Principal Investigator.
- Only the IGC Project Proposal Form needs be submitted. The project proposal must include the name and contact details for the institution’s authorized signatory.
In case of individual researchers applying for the project grant,
- The PI will manage grant funds including fronting the costs for expenses, etc.
- Every individual associated with and receiving fees and/or expenses from the project will have their own contract.
- If the research project will hire Research Assistants, Copy Editors, or other Non-investigator positions on the project, the PI need to submit the IGC Project Proposal Research Assistants form when these participants are selected.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications must be made for research projects in one of the above mentioned research areas.
- Applications should be made for research program, country program or a joint program.
- Applicants can be either an institution or individual investigator. Individuals can submit proposal only for the country program.
- Investigators must commit to stay in contact with the relevant IGC country team(s) or research programs and explore opportunities to collaborate.
- Investigators must commit to engage with policymakers in IGC focus countries when such opportunities arise within the context of the IGC’s work. This could entail taking part in IGC‐organized country visits, conferences and workshops, as well as direct interaction in person or remotely with policymakers, in coordination with the IGC Country Offices.
- Investigators must be ready to involve researchers’ resident in IGC partner countries in their work where possible.
