The Marc de Montalembert Foundation invites scholarship grant applications from young people who are nationals of or born in a country bordering the Mediterranean Sea for projects that increase the knowledge and understanding of the heritage and know-how of the region. The Foundation aims at developing a better knowledge of the cultures of the Mediterranean world.
Grant of EUR7,000 will be provided to youth to conduct projects on writing, architecture, archeology, music and song, art history, ethnography, anthropology and sociology, artistic crafts [and trades], painting and photography. The grant award will be announced at the end of March and the award ceremony will take place at the end of April. The winner will present the results of the project one year later and the Foundation may consider providing support for publishing or other distribution of the project’s results.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be nationals of, or born in, a country bordering on the Mediterranean. The list of countries surrounding Mediterranean Sea are Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine in Asia; Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco in Africa; Spain, Gibraltar, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus in Europe.
- Applicants must be under 28 years of age during the year of award of the grant.
- Applicants must show personal vocation for the cultural domain or for artistic crafts and trades or demonstrate their motivation on the basis of concrete experience.
- Applicants must present a project related to this vocation and meant to be implemented in a Mediterranean country or countries other than candidate’s home country.
- Collective projects or academic / other institutional projects (eg. university thesis / research) are not considered eligible.
