The U.S. Embassy Panama invites applications for the funding opportunity to promote security and accountability in Panama. U.S. Embassy Panama has supported numerous projects to strengthen civil society, democracy, the rule of law, and government institutions and to provide opportunities for vulnerable youth in at-risk communities.
U.S. Embassy Panama expects to award three to four grant agreements of no more than $400,000 each based on this NOFO. The anticipated total federal funding amount is $900,000. The period of performance is between 12-24 months with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2015.
Successful grant proposals will pursue objectives that reinforce a democratic, secure, and prosperous Panama by:
- Supporting the strengthening of civil society and democracy;
- Strengthening the rule of law and aiding the development of Panamanian government institutions;
- Providing opportunities to underserved youth and at-risk communities.
Eligibility Information
- S. Embassy Panama encourages applications from potential new partners.
- Applicants who are eligible to apply are U.S. and overseas-based Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Public International Organizations (PIOs), Educational Institutions and other qualified organizations who are able to respond to the NOFO and be able to mobilize in a short period of time.
- Organizations must have a commitment to non‐discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices. Non‐discrimination includes equal treatment without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, and political affiliation.
