Rudolf Steiner Foundation (RSF) is currently accepting applications from US organizations working in the areas of social development. The Rudolf Steiner Foundation’s (RSF) Social Finance is a pioneering non-profit financial services organization dedicated in transforming the world. RSF offers investing, lending, and giving services to individuals and enterprises committed to improving society and the environment.
Seed Funding between $500 and $5,000 will be provided depending on the project.
Focus Areas
- Food & Agriculture
- Diversification, including on-farm diversity, diverse crops and animals, and diversity of food systems infrastructure, from value-added processing to distribution to retail;
- Region-first approaches, such as food systems that support the needs of a region before looking at export opportunities, regional applications and entities rather than global or national, and fair trade of place-based products between regions;
- Sustainable, as defined by social justice, ecological practices, and financial viability within all aspects of production, distribution, and retail.
- Education & the Arts
- Education initiatives that address the intellectual, emotional, aesthetic, and social needs of children and adults, including therapeutic communities and integrative health practices;
- Fine arts and performing arts, especially those that foster spiritual awareness or increase access to learning and the arts for all communities;
- Entrepreneurship, job training, consumer education, and other awareness-building programs;
- Handicrafts produced and distributed according to fair trade principles.
- Ecological Stewardship
- Biomimicry, energy- and eco-efficiency;
- Green building materials and green consumer products;
- Ecological remediation and restoration, land conservation, and land trusts;
- Environmental legal defense, including projects supporting rights, indigenous cultures, and Commons.
Eligibility Criteria
- US Applicants with projects aligning with RSF’s mission and focus areas are eligible to apply.
- Proposals will be accepted from organizations that have either:
- 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status per the IRS, or
- A fiscal sponsor with 501(c) (3) tax-exempt status per the IRS.
- S. 501(c) (3) organizations doing work abroad can also be considered.
- New initiatives eligible for the funding can include:
- Organizations in the first two years of operation;
- New projects or programs from existing organizations (NOT including projects that are expanding in geographic scope only).
- The RSF Seed Fund will not award grants for:
- Multi-year operating needs
- Ongoing capital or capital projects and campaigns
- Scholarships
- Travel, or attending conferences and workshops
- Individuals
- Foreign organizations
- For-profit companies
How to Apply?
- Applications can be submitted through online system.
- Following details should be filled in the application form online-
- Description of organization including its history, mission and key programs
- Description of the project or initiative for which you are seeking support and how you plan to use the funds if awarded.
- Contact information, Tax ID (EIN number), amount of request, project or program budget amount, total organization budget amount, etc.
- Explanation of why you feel your project or initiative furthers the purpose of RSF
- Copy of fiscal sponsorship agreement or letter submitted as an attachment (if applicable)
