Young entrepreneurs between 18-30 years of age are invited to submit their ideas on the open source technologies for disaster management. The submitted idea may include – disaster preparedness, early warning, emergency communication and response, and recovery from natural disasters.
The Young Innovators Competition is a platform for innovative ideas and digital creativity. It shows how young people, fresh thinking and talent for technology can provide real-world solutions to real-world problems and change the future for the better. Innovation is showcased on a truly international stage and innovators receive a whole range of benefits crucial for developing their enterprise.
The open source technology may be
- 3D Printing
- UAV
- Raspberry Pi
- Arduino
- Other open source computer programs and systems
Two winners will be selected and will receive up to US$10,000 seed fund. The winners will also get mentorship along with dedicated workshops and opportunity to showcase at the InnovationSpace.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Competition is open to individuals from Members States of the ITU.
- Individuals must be born between 1 December 1984 and 1 December 1996 to be considered eligible to participate and win in the Competition.
- The individual participating in the competition must serve as a legitimate representative of their organization, though they do not necessarily need to be its founder or serve in another specific capacity.
- Applicants must not be an employee (or member of an employee’s nuclear family or household) of ITU nor holding an offer for future employment with ITU.
- Entries must be submitted in English.
Note: The entrant must submit short summary of the start-up and business plan and an application form as attached files.
