The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Kenya Operational Hub (KEOH) is accepting proposals for the SWITCH Africa Green Program. The program aims at supporting African countries to achieve sustainable development by engaging in transition towards an inclusive green economy, based on sustainable consumption and production patterns, while generating growth, creating decent jobs and reducing poverty.
Grant award to implement projects up to 3 years.
- USD 200,000 to USD 500,000 for Country-Specific Actions
- Above USD 500,000 for multi-country projects by organizations that have existing programs/initiatives that complement SWITCH Africa Green.

Multi-Country Project should develop a SWITCH Africa Program response to the specific need of eco-entrepreneurship in the six mentioned countries based on an assessment of national business conditions.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be legal entity belonging to one of the following categories – non-governmental organization, women’s and youth organizations, universities, local traders’ associations and citizens’ groups, cooperatives, trade unions, consumer organizations, and teaching, cultural, research and scientific organizations.
- Applicants must be national of one of the six pilot countries of SWITCH Africa Green Program – Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa and Uganda; or other developing countries in OECD/DAC list, or EEA or EU member state.
- Applicants must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with their potential partners, not acting as an intermediary.
- Applicants cannot be directly associated with UNEP, UNOPS, any other members of the Grantee Evaluation and Selection Committee or Board or steering committee in the preparation of this call.
- For country-specific partnerships, at least one organization should be from where the action takes place. Applicants who are the national of a developing country specified by OECD/DAC or EEA member state must act in partnership with at least one local organization having the nationality of the country or where the action takes place. It is not the case in multi-country action.
- Project should be composed of a set of activities that will enable implementation of green business and sustainable consumption and production practices.
- Country specific actions should take place in one of the three following countries – Ghana, Kenya and Uganda while multi-country actions can take place in all six pilot countries.
Application Procedure
- Submit concept Note in the format provided in Annex III of the call document at UNOPS website.
- Selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposal – technical and budget.
Note: Concept notes must be in English language. In case of project for Burkina Faso, concept note can be submitted in French or English.
