The United States Agency for International Development Mission in Cambodia (USAID/Cambodia) invites concept papers from Cambodian non-governmental organizations for Civil Society Grants. Activities intended to strengthen civil society engagement in processes that promote democracy, government accountability, and an enhanced respect for human rights will be supported under the call. USAID/Cambodia aims to strengthen the capacity of new local partner organizations.
Objectives:
- Promote and protect human rights
- Promote and protect, social, cultural, and economic rights
- Expand access to information
- Integrate democratic principles and transparency into targeted governance functions
The recipients will be supported through the provision of training, customized technical assistance, ongoing mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation by Capacity Building of Cambodia’s Local Organizations (CBCLO) and Civil Society Support Contract (CSSC).
Total grant amount per award range between $100,000 to 1,500,000 for the duration of two to three years.
Timeline:
- 2 May 2014 – Concept Paper Submission Deadline for Objective 1
- 1 August 2014 – Second Round Concept Paper Submission for All Objectives
- 3 November 2014 – Third Round Concept Paper Submission for All Objectives
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be local organization established under the laws of Cambodia.
- Applicant organization must have its principal place of business in the recipient country.
- Applicant organization must be majority owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Cambodia or be managed by a governing body, the majority of whom are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Cambodia.
- Applicant organization must not be controlled by a foreign entity comprised of individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of the recipient country.
Selected Concept Papers will be sent a formal letter to submit full application.
