The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Conservation Workshop Grants accepts applications from local organizations in WWF Priority places under Education for Nature Program. The fund can be utilized by organizations to train communities, stakeholders, park guards, and others on local and regional conservation issues. Grant request can be made $7,500 for the proposed training. Priority is given to organizations that have not yet benefited from this opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have an established presence in one of the following eligible countries: Belize (Mesoamerican Reef), Bhutan, Bolivia (Amazon), Cambodia, Cameroon (Congo Basin), Central African Republic (Congo Basin), Colombia (Amazon, Eastern Pacific Ocean), Dem. Republic of Congo (Congo Basin), Ecuador (Amazon and Galapagos), Fiji, French Guiana (Amazon), Gabon (Congo Basin), Guatemala (Mesoamerican Reef, Eastern Pacific Ocean), Guyana (Amazon), Honduras (Mesoamerican Reef), Kenya (Coastal East Africa), Laos, Madagascar, Mozambique (Primeiras e Segundas marine area, Quirimbas, Lake Niassa Aquatic Reserve, Ruvuma Landscape), Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal (Terai Arc Landscape, Sacred Himalayan Landscape, Chitwan Annapurna Linkage), Papua New Guinea (Coral Triangle), Peru (Amazon, Eastern Pacific Ocean), Republic of Congo (Congo Basin), Solomon Islands, Suriname (Amazon), Tanzania (Coastal East Africa), Vietnam, Zambia
- Proposed training and capacity building activities must provide skills and knowledge to groups that will help advance conservation in an eligible country.
- Proposal must include an active learning, practical skills, or field activity component.
- Training must take place within one year of submission of the application.
- Priority is given to organizations
- Established in an eligible country for at least 3 years
- Local and regional organizations that train local participants.
- Organizations working in WWF priority eco-regions.
- Organizations are limited to one grant every three years.
Application Procedure
The training proposal should include a narrative description of the proposed project, including:
- The rationale for the workshop
- Main objectives and goals – If applicable, please mention how your workshop will address climate change. Be as specific as possible.
- Course agenda and methodology – This must include an active learning or training component.
- Timeline of workshop including preparation for workshop, workshop activities, follow up activities and evaluation
- Participant selection process including: why the target group was chosen, what criteria was used to select participants, a list of participants (if available at the time of submission)
- Expected outcomes including: short term (6 months-1 year) & long term expectations (1+ years)
- Method of evaluation – Describe how you will measure the expected outcomes (i.e. surveys, monitoring, % of reduction in destructive practices)
- Include a CV for the main trainer and attach a brief biography for the other trainers.
- A detailed project budget (not exceeding USD$7,500).
