Joseph H. Fichter Research Grant Competition by Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) is open for members of the Association involved in promising sociological research on women in religion or on the intersection between religion and gender or religion and sexualities.
The research grant covers –
- Transportation expenses to conduct research
- The cost of hiring a research assistant
- Computer software packages that are not typically provided by a college or university (e.g., specialized statistical software packages)
- The grant money can be utilized for food and non-alcoholic beverages expenses too when the research involves travel.
The researcher is responsible to send any equipment (formerly approved by the grant committee to purchase to conduct the research using grant funds) to ASR Executive Office upon the completion of the research.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Grants are open to scholars who are pursuing or currently have a Ph.D. in a range of disciplines.
- Proposed research must be sociological in nature.
- Dissertation research, postdoctoral research by junior and senior scholars are also eligible for the competition.
- Applicants must also be members of the Association for the Sociology of Religion at the time of application.
