The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) is seeking proposals for projects that promote democracy, human rights, and rule of law in Near East Region.
A successful program will include-
- A determination of the scope and breadth of the DPO community in the target countries and link those organizations to each other, other human rights organizations, appropriate government entities, at the national and regional level
- Capacity building support to DPOs in election related activities, including: media techniques, building a broad constituency, get out the vote initiatives, advocacy for better access to elections and pre-elections processes; election monitoring and other political processes
- Working with political candidates to build a political platform inclusive of the rights of persons with disabilities
- Working with national election boards/commissions to ensure accessible and inclusive procedure
- Identify and removing barriers for participation of disabled persons in political parties
- Work with governments on legislative reform on the rights of disabled persons, including constitution drafting
- Sharing best practices of inclusive political and electoral processes
- Participate and influence Constitutional making processes
Eligibility-
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
