The United States Agency of International Development (USAID) is seeking applications from organizations to provide technical assistance and support to strengthen democratic electoral and political processes at national and regional levels.
The USAID’s Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) centre will provide technical leadership, funding and procurement mechanisms to support democratic development around the world.
Objectives of the Program
- Improved enabling environment for electoral governance and political processes
- Enhanced independence and professionalism of electoral administration
- Increased citizen participation in elections and political processes, including political transitions
- Enhanced participation, leadership, and political empowerment of women, youth and other marginalized groups
- Effective election observation and oversight of electoral processes
- More representative and competitive multiparty systems
- Strengthened democratic national and sub-national governance by elected leaders.
Award Information
The awards are categorized into two components:
1.Leader Award: USAID intends to fund up to $2.5 million approximately for each Leader Award.
2. Associate Awards: The cumulative amount of Associate Awards issued under all Leader Awards will be up to $30 million.
Eligibility Criteria
Local Organizations and regional organizations from developing countries are eligible to apply for the program.
