Applications are being accepted for the USAID/WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) for Health Project (W4H) aiming to accelerate sustainable improvement in water and sanitation access and improve hygiene behaviors in the target districts that complement USAID/Ghana’s other health investments to execute activities through six distinct components listed as following:
- Increase use of improved household sanitation
- Improve community water supply services
- Improve sector governance and policies
- Expand key hygiene behaviors
- Leverage public/private partnerships to magnify the impact of USG investments
- Improve water supply and sanitation infrastructure for health facilities
USAID/W4H will support Development Objective-3 by increasing improved drinking water access in underserved areas (Sub IR 2.4), increased use of improved sanitation (Sub IR 2.3 and 2.4), promote good hand washing behavior, and point-of-use water treatments (Sub IR 2.5).
USAID/Ghana will sign a cooperative agreement to implement the project. Approximate total amount of the award is up to $18,700,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a US or non-US non-governmental organization (NGO) including but not limited to Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs), such as private, non-profit organizations (for-profit entities must waive profits/fees), including universities, research organizations, faith-based and community organizations or Public International Organizations (PIOs).
- Applicants must have a politically neutral humanitarian mandate, commitment to non‐discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices.
- Applicants must have material, technical, and institutional capacities to achieve the results including financial systems.
- Applicants must have the capacity and experience to collaborate with host-country governments, non-governmental institutions, other donors and other organizations/groups.
- Applicant is required to provide at least 15% cost share for this particular call.
