The online application form demands the following information – basic personal information, language ability and travel history, answers to three short essay questions, resume/CV, sample budget, and references (only from applicants who secure a second-round interview).
Prepare answers to the short questions before beginning the application
- Please explain the reasons why you wish to become a Kiva Fellow and articulate how these reason are related to your past experiences and life goals.
- Provide an example of a significant experience that illustrates your ability to adapt in an unfamiliar environment highlighting the skills you used and perspectives you gained
- Describe your vision of what a typical day will be like for you as a Kiva Fellow and how that work furthers Kiva’s mission.
Responsibilities of Kiva Fellows
- Consulting/Capacity Building
- Train field partner staff on Kiva processes, policies and best practices
- Observe, learn and document the field partner’s operations and its use of the Kiva
- platform, making recommendations as appropriate
- Help identify new field partners or loan products that align with Kiva’s mission and help to further strategic goals
- Monitoring/Oversight
- Interview Kiva borrowers to assess loan impact, verify data, and gather information for
- journal updates
- Provide updates and feedback through field reports
- Marketing/Communications
- Contribute regularly to the Kiva Fellows Blog
- Create content to help tell the story of Kiva’s impact in the field and engage Kiva lenders
- Capture images and video footage to be used by Kiva’s marketing team

- Identify and onboard new Kiva Zip trustees and borrowers
- Raise awareness about Kiva Zip through community outreach and public speaking
- Conduct field-based research and analyze findings
- Document best practices and learning
