Siyanda is the online database of gender and development materials hosted by BRIDGE Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex in the UK. It aims be an ever growing resource to support practitioners in implementing gender programs and in mainstreaming gender equality concerns, whether they are gender specialists or not.
One of its important documents is the “Funding Sources for Gender-Equality and Women-focused Projects.” At a time when funding for such issues is on the decline, this compilation seeks to provide comprehensive information about various funding options for women’s organizations. It provides an overview of international funding from foundations and development agencies including the prizes offered in this area.
The resource document has been divided into five sections: Women’s Funds (those dedicated to gender-equality and women-focused rights projects), Foundations, International Development Agencies, Prizes, and on-line Directories.
