UN Women in partnership with the United Nations Department of Political Affairs (DPA) recently launched a joint strategy on gender and mediation with the purpose of increasing the participation of women at all levels of resolving many issues faced by the world community in modern times.
In this context, they have initiated the preparation of a “Global Database of Women’s Peacebuilding Organizations” which will be at the core of the renewed effort to enhance and better support national and local capacity building, foster knowledge and information sharing and develop efficient partnerships.
Goals
The goal of this strategy is to achieve greater effectiveness of UN mediation efforts through the increased participation of women at all levels of conflict resolution and peacemaking and strengthened capacity to address gender issues in peace processes. As part of this strategy, the UN Women Peace and Security Cluster is currently developing a global database of women’s organizations involved in peace.
You can find attached here a questionnaire on Women’s Peacebuilding Organizations. With your help, UN Women will be able to collect detailed information on organizations engaged at all levels of peace processes, from prevention to post-conflict peacebuilding. Once the database will be running, you will have the opportunity to learn about and connect with other organizations in your field at global, regional and national levels. You will also get the opportunity to correct your own information and add new elements.
