Australian Government is pleased to offer 2014 Masters Awards for which women are strongly preferred but award targets equal participation by women and men both.
Focusing areas are as follows-
- Agriculture/Food Security (including food technology/science and agricultural science)
- Education (including psychology and mathematics)
- Health (including maternal and child health, critical care nursing, community health and nursing, psychology – psychosocial counselling and support, laboratory science, medicine and hyperbaric medicine, biomedical science – virology and microbiology )
- Natural Resources Management (including environmental science and climate change)
- Public Policy (including public sector reform, finance and accounting, trade and economics and international diplomacy and relations)
- Water and Sanitation
Eligibility & Criteria
- Applicant must not be more than 50 years of age at the date of their application.
- Applicant must have at least three (3) years’ relevant post graduate work experience. This work experience must be in a role relevant to their proposed field of study and to their employment organisation type (e.g. public sector applicants should demonstrate public sector work experience, and so on). Preference will be given to candidates with greater periods of experience.
- Applicant possess, as a minimum, Bachelors degree (or the equivalent) from a recognised Institution of at least 3 years in length with a 2nd Class Lower Division or a grade of 12 out of 20 (60%). Note that entrance to a Masters degree in specialised medical studies will normally require applicant to have an appropriate first degree with strong academic results. Applicants for Masters in Psychology must normally possess an appropriate first degree and present evidence of membership of an appropriate professional body.
- Applicant must have a minimum English language proficiency equivalent to an overall IELTS score of 5.0 with no band score lower than 4.5. (equivalent TOEFL scores are also accepted). Those with overall scores of lower than 6.5 who are selected for an award will be supported to undertake between 3 and 9 months pre-course English language training and will need to achieve a score of 6.5 at the end of this training with no band score lower than 6.
- Applicant must not already hold, or be studying for, a Masters degree
- Applicant must be willing to make a formal commitment to return to their current employment following completion of the award
- Applicant must meet the general minimum eligibility criteria for Australian Development Scholarships (attached)

How to apply?
Candidates must submit their fully completed application forms to NHRDC for endorsement, together with all the supporting documents. The application and supporting documents must be submitted to NHRDC no later than 30 November 2012, two weeks before the closing date for Masters Award applications. Note that all applicants from Seychelles must also submit their final application and supporting documents electronically by the given deadline, using the correct form and following the instructions on the AAA website.
