The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD) is launching call for proposals for food security initiatives in South Sudan to enhance food production and support farmers.
Objective
The objective for this call for proposal is to fund projects in South Sudan that will boost food production and support the market participation of smallholder farmers in order to protect livelihoods.
Funding Information
DFATD will fund projects valued between $6,000,000 and $8,000,000 implemented over a period of up to three years.
Results to Obtain
- Improved food security for rural populations in targeted geographic areas.
- Increased sustainable agricultural production of year-round diversified crops and fisheries, particularly by women, in targeted geographic areas.
- Increased participation of smallholder farmers and fisher folk in economic activities, particularly by women, in targeted geographic areas.
DFATD Priorities
- Contribute to economic prosperity with an emphasis on expanding and diversifying commercial relationships with emerging and high-growth markets.
- Expand Canada’s engagement in the hemisphere and reinforce the Canada-U.S. relationship.
- Increase Canada’s economic and political engagement in Asia.
- Promote democracy and respect for human rights and contribute to effective global governance.
- Implement Canada’s development agenda to reduce global poverty and provide humanitarian assistance.
- Support international security and the safety of Canadians abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- Canadian, international and local organizations, including private sector organizations, that are legally incorporated or otherwise constituted under the law are eligible to apply for the their proposals.
- Organizations must also have at least three years’ experience in managing, delivering and achieving proven results for food security initiatives in South Sudan.
