The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has announced a call for concept notes under its Governance for Equity in Health Systems program for its ‘West Africa Initiative to Strengthen Capacities through Health Systems Research.’
The overarching objective of the West Africa Initiative to Strengthen Capacities through Health Systems Research is to support West African initiatives that contribute to establishing a body of knowledge about strengthening equitable health systems. This knowledge, in turn, will be used to inform and influence national and local programs and policies.
Key research areas are:
- equitable access to health systems;
- governance and governance structures of health systems.
To apply, applicant(s) must be citizens or permanent residents of one of the 15 member states of the West African Health Organization. A primary affiliation must be to a national institution registered in one of those same West African states. See the full document for details as exceptions apply.
A total of approximately CA$1.4 million will be invested in successful grant proposals over a period of three years. Each grant can receive up to CA$350,000 over 36 months.
