The National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) accepts applications twice a year from NGOs around the world for its Small Research Programs.
The Seed Grants program supports small research projects that can be completed in one year. Applicants may request up to $30,000 plus 15 percent facilities and administrative costs for a period not to exceed 12 months.
Research Areas/Priorities
The NCRG’s funding priorities include research on the following topics:
- Prevention of gambling disorders
- Outcome research on behavioral and pharmacological treatment strategies
- Decision-making and neuro economics
- The impact of new gaming technology on gambling and gambling disorders
- Gambling among minorities, especially Native Americans, and issues of health disparities
- Impact of DSM-5 changes on measurement, screening and diagnosis of gambling disorders
- Biogenetic vulnerabilities to gambling disorders
- Animal models
- Gambling among the elderly and emerging adults
Research Activities
Seed Grants support a variety of research activities, including:
- Pilot and feasibility studies
- Secondary analysis of existing data
- Small, self-contained research projects
- Development of research methodology
- Development of new research technology
Eligibility Criteria
- Domestic or international, public or private, non-profit or for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for NCRG funding. The Principal Investigator must have a Ph.D., M.D. or other terminal degree.
- The NCRG seeks proposals of high scientific merit from investigators who show promise of disseminating their work at high-impact conferences and in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
