The management policy of the organization should define the working days and hours for its staff members. The working days are mostly determined on basis of existing local culture or conditions. In some developing countries, working days could be six days per week, but some NGOs prefer to adopt the same working style as their donor agencies do; thereby, they just have five days per week as working days. Work hours also depend upon local conditions. Whatever the case, mention those work hours and days in your management policy.
In the same section, you can also mention employee information about leave and holidays. Leave can also depend upon the type of the organization. In larger organizations, there can be several types of leaves. Below is an example of the leave policy:
A list of holidays that can include national holidays can be mentioned or updated in the policy. Some organizations may not observe all national holidays but it is a good idea to keep a cap on the number of holidays; for example,
“All employees are entitled to 15 days of paid leave arising out of public holidays. Public holidays are specified in advance by the Board of Directors in consultation with staff members.”
