United States Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) is inviting proposals from organizations on ‘Promoting Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Yemen’. The major aim of the grant project is to support Yemeni civil society efforts to promote human rights and increase transparency and accountability in the criminal justice system.
The project activities for promoting human rights and the rule of law in Yemen may vary from (but not limited to) – advocacy for legal and regulatory reforms to bolster protection of human rights and human rights defenders, including increasing transparency in the criminal justice process; training for NGOs to track cases in the criminal justice system to ensure that the right to due process is respected; legal assistance for recourse for human rights violations; exploration of the intersections between informal, traditional, and formal justice mechanisms. Approximate budget of the program is $375,000. An organization may submit no more than two [2] proposals.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicant organization must be registered either in grantsolutions.gov or grants.gov and must submit proposals electronically before deadline.
- Applicants must consider the technical formats in proposal – all pages are numbered, including budgets and attachments; all documents are formatted to 8 ½ x 11 paper; and all Microsoft Word documents are single-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, with a minimum of 1-inch margins.
- Proposals that reflect any type of support, for any member, affiliate, or representative of a designated terrorist organization, whether or not elected members of government are not eligible.
