The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Yemen invites applications for the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR)– Program for the Republic of Yemen. The major objective of the call is to further strengthen and empower actors in the promotion and protection of human right in Yemen, with special reference to capacity building for monitoring and documenting of human rights violations, notably of local and community based actors across Yemen.
Priority Areas:
- Strengthen equal citizenship and promote democratic processes
- Strengthen the rule of law in relation to the protection of vulnerable groups
- Strengthen the promotion and protection of fundamental rights and freedoms
Grant request can be made in between €200,000 and €450,000 which can be 50% to 95% of the total eligible costs of the action. The grant shall not exceed 75% of the total eligible costs of the action in case of international actors and organizations. The initial planned duration of an action should not be less than 12 months and more than 24 months.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be legal persons in non-profit making organizations.
- The organization should be non-governmental organization, international organisation, organizations representing national and/or ethnic minorities, local citizens’ groups and traders’ associations, cooperatives, trade unions, organizations representing economic and social interest, consumer organizations, women’s and youth organizations, teaching, cultural research and scientific organizations, universities, non governmental association, as defined by Article 43 of the Rules of application of the EU Financial Regulation.
- Applying organization must be established in the Republic of Yemen or a Member State of the European Union; a developing country and territory, as included in the list of ODA recipients published by the OECD-DAC; in an accession or official candidate country as recognized by the EU, a country for which reciprocal access to external assistance is established by the Commission; a member country of the OECD. This obligation does not apply to international organizations.
- Applicants must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- Proposed actions must take place in the Republic of Yemen.
