The European Union is committed to support democracy and human rights in Albania and is thus seeking applications for its European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Country Based Support Schemes.
The overall goal of this support is to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations, so as to reinforce their role in the consolidation of democracy and the protection and promotion of fundamental rights and freedoms in the country.
Priority Areas
Lot 1
- Protecting women’s rights and promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment;
- Protecting the rights of the child, including combating trafficking of minors;
Lot 2
- Supporting the rights of persons belonging to minorities, people affected by caste based discrimination, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) persons and people with disabilities;
- Protecting other vulnerable groups, including poor and homeless people, elderly, etc.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals for both the lots must fall between EUR 500.000 to EUR 600.000.
Location
Actions must take place in Albania.
Duration
The initial planned duration of any action can be between 18 months to 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be specific types of organizations such as civil society organizations, including nongovernmental organizations and, community based organizations, and
- be established in Albania or in a Member State of the European Union, in an accession or official candidate country as recognized by the European Union or in Member State of the European Economic Area and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- The applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter who must satisfy the eligibility as the applicant itself.
- The applicant and its co-applicant(s) may act with affiliated entity(ies) having a structural link with the applicants. Eligible entities may thus include-
- Entities directly or indirectly controlled by the beneficiary (daughter companies or first-tier subsidiaries). They may also be entities controlled by an entity controlled by the beneficiary (granddaughter companies or second-tier subsidiaries) and the same applies to further tiers of control;
- Entities directly or indirectly controlling the beneficiary (parent companies).
- Entities under the same direct or indirect control as the beneficiary (sister companies).
- Entities legally defined as a e.g. network, federation, association in which the proposed affiliated entities also participate or the beneficiary participates in the same entity (e.g. network, federation, association) as the proposed affiliated entities.
How to Apply
- All applicants, co-applicants and affiliated entities must register in PADOR first through the given website.
- The applicants will get a EuropeAid ID after registering to PADOR which have to be filled on the paper version.
