European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) is inviting proposals for Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) in Solomon Islands. The goal of this proposals is to assist local civil society in fostering political pluralism and democratic political participation and representation in Solomon Islands, including equal participation of men and women in political life and institutions; and in underpinning the furtherance of electoral democracy in Solomon Islands through cooperation with local civil society organisations and stakeholders.
Priority will be given to-
- Improving the transparency and integrity of the electoral process, including aspects related to voter registration, and electoral legislation enforcement, including on political party financing and campaigning.
- Enhancing local ownership and citizen participation in electoral processes through domestic electoral observation, voter education and access to unbiased media coverage.
- Enhancing the correlation between electoral processes standards in Solomon Islands and internationally accepted standards.
- Fostering women’s participation and representation in political life and democratic institutions.
The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is € 600,000. The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 24 months.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be legal persons
- be non-profit-making
- be civil society organisations, including non-governmental organisations and independent political foundations, and private sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations, and networks there of or international and regional (inter-governmental) organisations as defined by Article 43 of the Implementing Rules to the EC Financial Regulation or public sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local and national level.
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or Solomon Islands or an official candidate country as recognised by the European Union or of a Member State of the European Economic Area, or of a developing country as specified by the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD/DAC), or of any country other than those referred to previously, where reciprocal access to their external assistance has been established.
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
