The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) Canada is accepting call for proposals for the improvement of maternal and newborn health in underserved areas of Tanzania with an objective of obtaining project proposals that can support DFATD’s objectives to improve maternal and newborn health in underserved areas in Tanzania.
Funding Information
DFATD will fund projects valued between CAD$8,000,000 and CAD$12,000,000.
Results to Obtain
- Reduced maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity in underserved districts in Tanzania.
- Increased utilization of maternal and newborn health services by women and their families in targeted districts in Tanzania.
- Improved availability of quality maternal and newborn health services in underserved districts in Tanzania.
DFATD Priorities
- Contribute to economic prosperity with an emphasis on expanding and diversifying commercial relationships with emerging and high-growth markets.
- Expand Canada’s engagement in the hemisphere and reinforce the Canada-U.S. relationship.

- Implement Canada’s development agenda to reduce global poverty and provide humanitarian assistance.
- Support international security and the safety of Canadians abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- Canadian, international and local organizations, including private-sector organizations are eligible to apply for their proposals.
- The proponent organization must have at least five (5) years of experience managing, delivering, and achieving proven results in health initiatives in Tanzania.
