The May 18 Memorial Foundation is offering an internship opportunity for NGO Professionals in the Developing World. The Foundation invites individuals working in non-governmental organization or involved in social development work from at least 3 years to apply for the International Internship Program. The internship program aims to build concrete solidarity through the exchange of human resources, and nurture outstanding individuals to lead global civil society.
Two interns will be selected to experience and learn the history and development process of human rights and democracy in the Republic of Korea. Duration of internship is 10 months, from March to December 2015. These interns will get an opportunity to exchange and network with Korean civil society group.
The Foundation provides travel costs, airfare, living expenses along with housing to the interns. Additional benefit include Public Health Insurance/
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can belong to any country outside Korea.
- Applicants should be working for human rights, democracy, and peace building organizations in their home countries. Applications cannot be made by individuals without the knowledge/support/recommendation of their current organization or network.
- Individuals with at least 3 years of NGO or social development work experience (not necessarily in the field of human rights) are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants should have proper academic background. Human rights related subjects are preferred.
- Applicants must be computer literate and proficient in English. A working knowledge of Korean is an advantage.
Application materials include – completed, dated and signed internship application form; curriculum vitae; a scanned copy of valid and not expired passport; a write-up on International Internship Program (expectations, objectives & interest); an official endorsement letter from superior or head of organization; and a copy of full academic transcript.
