INTERIGHTS has announced a funded internship opportunity starting in July 2012 for a lawyer/academic to work on a strategic litigation project addressing torture and/or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment within healthcare settings in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Activities will include:
- Legal research on relevant international and comparative human rights law and practice aimed at providing advice and the filing of legal briefs domestically and internationally;
- Sourcing of potential cases through research and the maintenance of regular communication with partners;
- Preparation of materials for workshops;
- Where possible, attendance at meetings with human rights practitioners, lectures, or visits to other international / national human rights organisations based in London.
The six-month internship will begin in early July 2012 and will be based in London. The intern will receive a monthly stipend of £1,300. Accommodation is not provided but INTERIGHTS can advise on finding a suitable place to stay.
