Applications are invited by ActionAid UK from qualified and experienced candidates for the job/vacancy of Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. The locations of this job/vacancy will be based in Central London. Kindly note that this position is fixed term contract for a duration of 18 months. Starting salary will be £44,320 – £47,448. All interested applicants must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Substantial experience in designing monitoring and evaluation policies, systems, tools and processes, ideally in an international development or NGO environment
- Experience in providing leadership, support and guidance on monitoring and evaluation across organisations and/or development programmes/projects
- Project management qualifications and/or demonstrated substantial project management experience, particularly in an international context or where remote management of stakeholders was required
- In depth experience in overseeing and/or managing evaluations
- Advanced experience with strategy development and planning
- Demonstrated experience with challenging senior staff in a constructive and supportive way to achieve better outcomes and bring about culture change
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of accountability theories and practice, including ways of implementing within organisations
- Extensive experience of dealing with and influencing stakeholders at a variety of levels
Desirable
- Training or event delivery experience
- Experience of managing third parties i.e. consultants
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Extensive knowledge of logical frameworks and participatory results based planning, monitoring and evaluation, and demonstrated ability to coach and train others in their use
- Excellent data management, communication and organisation skills
- Excellent skills in information/data analysis, including analysis of highly diverse data, and report writing
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team in a complex environment
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, as well as the ability to conduct professional relationships across the organisation as well as externally
- Cultural sensitivity and confidence to deal with high level officials and senior staff internationally
- Ability to live the organisational values
Desirable
- Knowledge of data analysis software and databases (Excel, Access, SAS, SPSS)
- Ability to work with directors and board members
