The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi is seeking an individual for the position of Electrical Power Equipment Operator in the Facility Maintenance Section. Speaking/Reading/Writing skills in English and Urdu are required. Job location is Karachi.
Salary :
- *Not-Ordinarily Resident: US$ 35,753 p.a. (Starting salary)
- (Position Grade: FP-8 to be confirmed by Washington)
- *Ordinarily Resident: Rs.603,027 p.a. (Starting salary)
- (Position Grade: FSN-6)
Qualifications and Experience :
- Completion of ten years of education and a three year apprenticeship in the electrical trade is required.
- Must have five years of experience in utility operations, with a strong emphasis on preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Level III (good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Urdu are required. This may be tested.
- Must be familiar with the inner workings of plant and equipment maintenance. Must know the basic safety precautions required for all job tasks performed.
- Must have the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Must have a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes. The ability to read blueprints, sketches, O&M manuals and diagrams is required. Must be able to work independently in emergency situations. Incumbent must have technical knowledge of power equipment operations. The incumbent will utilize special switching and diagnostic programs. Basic familiarity in these programs is required. Must be flexible to work after hours or on weekends.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
- Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
- Current employees who have voluntarily reassigned/promoted from one position to another are not eligible to apply for six months from the effective date of the reassignment/promotion.
- Current employees who have received any job-related training are not eligible to apply in another section/agency for six months from the effective date of the training.
- Candidates need to indicate on the Application for Employment if any family member is working in the U.S. Mission, Pakistan and, if so, in which section.
- U. S. Mission Pakistan will not bear any travel expenses for testing, interviews, pre-employments clearances (if selected) or relocating for joining.
