The Room to Read is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Accounting Associate. The position will be based in San Francisco, USA.
The Accounting Associate’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to; performing processes related to gifts in kind (GINKI), investments, cash management, and month end close.
The Room to Read is a non-governmental, non-religious and work with many local NGOs and community based organizations to implement the programs.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Accounting Associate will perform the following functions-
- Ensure transactions are coded and processed accurately and in a timely manner per organization regulations, policies and procedures
- Perform all bank account reconciliations in the GL system for all US bank accounts
- Review international entities’ bank statements and reconciliations and follow-up on outstanding items
- Liaise with the Development Operations team to provide detailed transaction statements from all fundraising bank and investment accounts 2-3 times per week
- Process credit card refunds through our various merchant accounts worldwide
- Maintain the GINKI valuation and tracking documents and coordinate global inventory stock counts and reporting from entities abroad
- Review and reconcile intercompany accounts on a monthly basis
- Collaborate with Accounting Team on accounting close processes and auditing of accounts (monthly, quarterly and annually)
- Assist with preparation for statutory and compliance audits (for the US and entities abroad)
- Other duties as required and assigned
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3-5 years of professional experience; nonprofit experience a plus
- Ability to perform accounting processes and navigate general ledger software and export reports
- Working knowledge of MS Office, intermediate to advanced level Excel skills
- Results driven, thorough and highly organized while managing large volume of documents
- Enjoys and effectively builds local and remote interpersonal relationships with diverse teams
- Be an early adopter and instigate continuous improvement process initiatives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to deal with simultaneous tasks and priorities through outstanding time management skills
- Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided
- Epicor Enterprise and Raiser’s Edge knowledge
- International business experience
