Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Budget Division Chief in Washington DC, United States.
The Budget Division Chief will be responsible to lead a team of highly qualified professionals towards achieving the division’s mission, in line with guidelines received from Senior Management and the Board of Executive Directors.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Budget Division Chief performs the following functions-
- Leads formulation of the Bank-wide Administrative and Capital Budgets in line with the IDB-9 RBB methodology, the Long-Term Financial Projections, the planned lending levels, and the efficient allocation of human and financial resources.
- Leads the preparation of the annual Program and Budget Proposal and the annual update of the Medium-Term Capital Budget Plan, as well as the preparation of the corresponding presentations to (and related queries from) Senior Management and the Board of Executive Directors.
- Provides, through the Division staff, technical advice to all Bank units during the preparation, evaluation and presentation of departmental budget proposals to the Board of Directors.
- Coordinates the Bank’s effort to implement the RBB Action Plan, monitors timely achievement of key milestones and report on corresponding progress.
- Advises Bank’s departments on guidelines defined by the Board of Executive Directors and Senior Management for all aspects of the budget process.
- Leads the monitoring of the execution of the Bank’s administrative and capital budget, and coordinates the preparation of corresponding budget execution reports to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
- Leads the development and periodic updates of the Bank’s policies, procedures and internal controls related to the administrative and capital budgets.
- Provides leadership, guidance and direction to a Division of 18 professionals.
- Manages the Bank’s Budget related information systems.
- Develops and maintains mutually beneficial working relationships with peers in key Bank departments and other International Financial Institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Public or Business Administration, Accounting, Economics.
- A relevant certification in the field of Accounting such as Certified Public Accountant (US CPA Preferred) is desirable.
- At least 10 years of relevant practical experience in budget planning and development, accounting, auditing, management and/or financial administration.
- At least five years of this experience in successfully managing a team of highly qualified professionals and demonstrated working knowledge and implementation experience with RBB methodology.
- Experience in multilateral financial institution is desirable.
- Proficiency in English is required, as well as proficiency in a second Bank’s language (Spanish is highly desirable).
- Working knowledge of French and Portuguese is a plus.
