United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Chief Finance in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Chief Finance will be responsible to provide leadership to the Division’s accounting, budgeting and business analysis functions, monitor effectiveness of controls and performance against budget, continuously develop control procedures.
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Chief Finance will perform the following functions-
- Lead financial support to strategic, budgetary and annual business planning in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Participate in Joints Strategic planning with National Committees and ensure monitoring of performance against established plans.
- Coordinate advice and assistance in financial, budgetary and monitoring matters related to private sector activities to all National Committees, UNICEF Regional and Country Offices and other partners as appropriate.
- Ensure timely and effective preparation, administration and control of the PFP budget and allocation of relevant resources, including the submission of work plan and budget to the PFP Director, TRT, PBR and the Executive Board for approval.
- Ensure existence of effective business processes for management and control of the business through forecasting, focused planning and effective reporting.
- Ensure that accounting policies, procedures and controls are maintained, refined and adhered to for providing PFP management with accurate and timely information for decision making and planning purposes.
- Coordinate and supervise financial and accounting functions of the Geneva Common Services team.
- Interpretation, implementation and development of financial and budgetary policies and procedures.
- Financial implications of new business initiatives in area of private sector fundraising.
- Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An advanced university degree (Master’s) in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, Economics, or a directly-related technical field(s) is required. Valid professional certification (CA; CPA; etc.) from an accredited chartered accountancy institution, in conjunction with a first-level (Bachelor’s) university degree in a relevant technical field (as identified above), may be taken in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, at the national and international levels, in Budget, Finance, Accounting, Banking or a directly-related field(s), is required.
- Previous hands on experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity are required, ideally leading cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge and experience in an Enterprise Resource Planning system (i.e. SAP) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and experience in analytical and financial modeling is highly desirable.
- Previous work experience within an international organization and/or UN agencies is considered an asset.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
- Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is considered an asset.
