Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director, Internal Audit in Afghanistan.
The mission of AKDN is to work to improve the welfare and prospects of people in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa, without regard to faith, origin or gender.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Director, Internal Audit will perform the following functions-
- Sets Internal Audit department policies and procedures.
- Leads the development of the bottom-up budget for the department.
- Develops and implements internal control risk assessments, annual plan, work programs, and review reports.
- Presents reports to the CEO and Audit Committee to identify areas requiring follow-up on the implementation of required actions.
- Assesses needed internal controls to ensure that financial and operational systems operate effectively and identify potential problem.
- Carries out ad-hoc reviews to investigate any areas identified by management or the department itself.
- Reviews reports of departments and ensure effective reporting to the Board.
- Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are well documented and tracked to ensure compliance.
- Raises key deviations and exceptions to the policies and procedures to the relevant manager and escalate if needed.
- Assesses TDCA risks and suggest risk mitigating controls in coordination with Risk from Strategic Planning & Performance Management (HR).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized university is required.
- CPA, or Certified Internal Auditor designation (or equivalent) is desired.
- 12+ years of auditing experience, with at least 4 years of internal audit.
- Strong background in internal audit procedures, analyzing internal control gaps and preparing summary reports for the Board.
- Experience in planning and executing assignments and in handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Proven skills in negotiation and problem resolution.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
