The American Leprosy Missions (ALM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Grants Officer based in South Carolina, USA.
The Grants Officer (GO) will help American Leprosy Missions realize the vision of a world without leprosy by ensuring a portfolio of institutional grants are administered and implemented with excellence.
The ALM CURE and CARE for people with leprosy, and are committed to bringing an END to this ancient disease.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Grants Officer will perform the following functions-
- Ensure a portfolio of awarded grants are managed and reported on with excellence
- Review, interpret and explain all aspects of award documents like grants and cooperative agreements to ALM staff and implementing partners
- Coordinate start-up teams of ALM and Partners to ensure the timely implementation of awarded grants
- Ensure effective, transparent use of resources in compliance with ALM and donor policies and procedures
- Develop or support use of tools as necessary to build organizational and partner capacity in implementation (e.g. budgeting, work plans, cash flow projections, procurement plans, compliance checklists, etc.)
- Ensure ALM administrative procedures are up to date and compliant with donor regulations and being followed in grant implementation, assisting with development of new policies and procedures as required
- Manage and communicate project reporting and compliance timelines through the lifecycle of the grant or contract
- Ensure submission of high-quality reports within ALM and to ALM partners, including other NGOs, the UN, and government agencies
- Develop and maintain a donor filing system (reporting, invoices, etc.)
- Maintain up-to-date electronic project information portfolio
- Manage award audits together with the finance team
- Actively collaborate with program development and field staff to ensure a smooth transition of grants from the acquisition pipeline to the management phase
- Effectively manage the partnership between the donor and American Leprosy Missions
- Participate regularly in a variety of external forums/ workshops/ conference/ sector coordination meetings to proactively engage and share best practices and findings of projects with the broader government and international development communities.
- Conduct periodic project visits with ALM field staff and implementing partners to ensure project activities and partner systems are in compliance with all regulations
- Assist the program team and implementing partners in designing effective projects with strategic project outcomes which are compliant and meet best practice standards, identifying areas of concern and opportunities for improvement
- Prepare summary reports of project data as needed for Program and Development staff
- Ensure relevant program data is shared with other NTD actors and reporting bodies, and that relevant data from external bodies is shared with ALM staff
- Research and learn best practices in the administration of grants and assist in improving organizational capacity through information sharing and training
- Assist in the development of effective tools and systems enabling the efficient collection, analysis and dissemination of project data
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, business administration, accounting or a related field
- Master’s degree in public health, international development or a related field (preferred)
- 3 years of related experience including successful administration of institutional funding for global non-profit
- Experience in applying U.S. Government regulations like FAR 22 CFR 226/228 and OMB A-122 and A-133 to grants
- Advanced report writing, editing, and negotiation skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, usually not to exceed 15% of total working days per year
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Outlook
- Accounting or financial reporting experience and skills
- Ability and willingness to share the Christian faith through word and deed
- Technical expertise in infectious diseases, particularly leprosy or other NTDs
- Proficiency in design and implementation of grants management databases, DHIS2 or similar software
- Proficient in speaking and writing a second language such as French, Portuguese or Spanish
- Experience leading grants management teams
