The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Sustainable Energy Finance Specialist, based in Beijing, China.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Sustainable Energy Finance Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Scope technical and commercial market potential for sustainable energy and climate finance in targeted countries and identify opportunities that might be relevant to IFC’s FI clients including.
- Identify gaps and needs for developing sustainable energy/climate finance programs in targeted countries, including formulation of motivation/drivers for end-users to implement SCF project using FI’s financing.
- Prepare and update IFC’s SCF/Climate Finance strategy in the region to address climate change issues, including preparation and updating of applicable tools, manuals and procedures.
- Work with the lead business developers and hub leaders in marketing the product to clients.
- Conduct with SCF/Climate Finance diagnostics/appraisal with clients, drafting of appraisal reports, client proposals, leading/contributing to internal AS/IS transaction documentation, consultant Terms of references, etc.
- Negotiate project scope, targets, work plan details and Advisory Agreements with clients, and provide inputs to the investment negotiations with clients wherever needed.
- Support the program to develop standardized policies, procedures and training materials that can be tailored for individual banks in a particular country.
- Conduct training to FIs and helping to identify and manage consultant teams to ensure quality and timely delivery of SCF/Climate Finance advisory services to IFC clients.
- Monitor the progress and impact of projects through regular reporting and evaluation of consultants and project performance.
- Provide portfolio support for investment and advisory projects in using IFC’s CAFI tool for GHG accounting.
- Recruit and supervise consultants in preparing detailed energy audits and feasibility studies, as required.
- Implement SCF strategy roll outs in EAP target countries.
- Represent IFC in selected national, regional conferences, workshops and training seminars.
- Support the CHUEE Program Manager (PM) in overall day-to-day implementation of CHUEE Program.
- Develop the CHUEE AS and IS products and participate in their deployment.
- Assist CHUEE partner banks to meet their commitments as defined in the risk sharing facility agreements with IFC and other Program partner organizations.
- Provide inputs to meet CHUEE internal and external reporting requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Knowledge of the Sustainability/Climate business space as well as knowledge of financial institutions and their operations.
- Combination of educational qualifications and work experience that address these two needs.
- Masters’ degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Environmental Sciences, with a minimum of 8-10 depending on required grade years of experience in SCF and/or professional consulting to FIs and Banks in developed and/or emerging markets.
- Expertise/familiarity with metrics and tools for tracking climate investments, including GHG accounting tools.
- Awareness/familiarity with donor and bilateral programs in SCF including the capacity building and technical advisory initiatives.
- Sound understanding of financial structures used to finance SCF projects as well as how banks, insurance companies, capital markets, and other financial intermediaries typically work.
- Good knowledge of clean energy and environmental markets in the region or other emerging market regions and knowledge of international best practices and global trends in the industry.
- Familiarity with Chinese banking regulations, laws desirable.
- Highly motivated, energetic, team player with excellent interpersonal skills and client service skills.
