United Nations University (UNU) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Chief Of Human Resources in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Chief of Human Resources will lead the human resources portfolio with a view to attracting highly qualified individuals for openings at the United Nations University, offer guidance on performance management and training, as well as career development objectives at the University.
The mission of the UN University is to contribute, through collaborative research and education, to efforts to resolve the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare that are the concern of the United Nations, its Peoples and Member States.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Chief Of Human Resources will perform the following functions-
- Providing proactive and innovative approaches to the delivery of human resources services, as well as on strategic and policy issues, and recommending changes as required.
- Overseeing the establishment of robust policies, processes and procedures to ensure the smooth running of human resources operation.
- Identifying and analyzing staff career development and training needs, including mobility, in coordination with organizational units, and designing programmes to meet identified needs.
- Representing the United Nations University in negotiations with staff and staff representatives, and at inter-agency bodies dealing with human resources.
- Advising and counseling staff in respect of duties, responsibilities, code of conduct/ethics and challenges associated with work and entitlements.
- Assisting supervisors and staff to understand and use the performance appraisal system and providing performance management advice to staff and management.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in human resources management, business or public administration, social sciences, law, education or other relevant discipline.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience with a successful track record in human resources management in a large organization, preferably in an international environment.
- Working experience in a multinational academic institution is an asset.
- Proven interpersonal skills, demonstrated by the ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Fluency in oral and written English with excellent drafting and communications skills; knowledge of a second United Nations official language is an advantage.
- Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and human resources databases, and a strong appetite for process change management.
- Experience with United Nations human resources policies and practices (desirable but not a prerequisite).
- Strong commitment to customer service.
