World Education (WE) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Chief of Party in Gaborone, Botswana.
World Education improves the quality of life through education for half a million children and adults in 22 countries.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Chief of Party will perform the following functions-
- Provide overall technical and management leadership and financial oversight, including managing partner relations and ensuring technical and management excellence.
- Serve as the lead technical advisor for improved OVC service delivery.
- Liaise closely with the Government of Botswana and relevant ministries to promote harmonization and collaboration among ministries, the private sector and NGOs.
- Foster an enabling OVC policy and regulatory environment with national ministries.
- Work with and build the capacity of local NGOs providing services to OVC and their families/caregivers.
- Represent the project to USAID, Government of Botswana and other key stakeholders; and.
- Maintain ongoing and regular communications with the home office.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree or higher in international development, business administration, social sciences, public health, or a closely related field is required.
- At least 10 years of experience designing, implementing and managing large, complex projects involving multiple partners, in/for developing countries, of which at least 5 years has been spent in the position of COP or DCOP of a large development program of equivalent size and scope.
- Management experience with a USG cooperative agreement preferred.
- Excellent leadership qualities and in-depth technical and management expertise.
- Experience delivering services in child welfare and protection programs, systems strengthening, capacity building, economic strengthening, quality improvement, policy development is required.
- Demonstrated international credibility as a program leader and manager.
- Experience interacting with government agencies, host country governments and counterparts, and inter-national donor agencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent writing and oral presentation skills in English are required.
- Two years of experience living or working in a developing country managing a large development program is required; experience living and working in Botswana is preferred.
