United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Coordination Officer in Aden, Yemen. The duration for the post is of 6 months.
UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Key Jobs Responsibility
The Coordination Officer will be responsible for the following functions-
- Under the guidance of the Project Manager, establish standard operating operations (SOPs) for desk review of shipping documentation, shipping schedules, clearances and processing of backlog of pending commercial cargo shipments to Yemen.
- Coordinate, conduct and manage the desk review and clearance process, together with the UNVIM Monitors.
- Verify the validity of the shipping documents submitted.
- Coordinate and manage the deployment of the inspection team, together with the Liaison Officer and in agreement with the UNVIM Monitors.
- Maintain a comprehensive data base and schedule of incoming commercial cargo shipments to Yemen.
- In coordination with the UNVIM Monitors, establish SOPs for verification and inspection procedures at ports outside of the UN Verification Center.
- Liaise with other UNVIM team members regarding the specific desk reviews and the subsequent clearances and/or request for inspections.
- Liaise with the Liaison Officer and Project Manager and undertake the necessary coordination in lie with the UNVIM SOPs in cases where deployment of Monitors is required at ports of origins.
- Conduct other activities as requested by the Project Manager.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in International Relations, Public Administration, Management or related field.
- A first-level university degree with relevant combination of academic qualifications and extensive experience related to the nature of the position may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in coordination, logistics or a related field.
- Basic understanding of commercial shipping rules and regulations.
- Previous experience in developing standard operating procedures and coordinating complex operations. Experience in the usage of computers and MS Office and experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Fluency in written and oral English.
