Open Society Foundations (OSF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Country Director in Pakistan.
The Country Director will take primary responsibility for developing strategic grant-making and engaging in related advocacy and public information activities in Pakistan.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Country Director will perform the following functions-
- Lead the programmatic and administrative functions of the Open Society Foundations’ office in Pakistan
- Provide program and administrative support to the Regional Director to develop and implement OSF’s program in Pakistan
- Oversee and administer OSF’s office in Pakistan, including staff hiring and management, and day to day operations
- Expand the Pakistan grant portfolio, and develop cooperative projects with partner organizations in Pakistan as well as with OSF’s thematic units
- Review, research, and evaluate grant proposals, letters, and reports of various grantees as needed
- Working in collaboration with relevant units within OSF, the Country Director is responsible for the design of the program strategy, delivering against operational plans, managing a grants budget, allocating work and determining how/when it will be carried out
- Oversight for quality and performance control policies and processes related to grant making including eligibility assessments, grant dockets and portfolio reviews
- Engage stakeholders with similar interests and concerns around issues which requires different approaches and may introduce elements of cultural/political sensitivities
- Ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of Pakistan governing the office, as well as OSF’s internal policies
- Plan and develop annual budget for the Pakistan office in conjunction with Regional Director
- Evaluate annual budgets and strategies, monthly transaction reports, audit reports, and various other legal and grant documentation
- Under the supervision of Regional Director, develop, execute, and coordinate special projects as required. Provide occasional program and administrative support to other projects
- Monitor civil society and NGO development in priority sectors
- Represent OSF in professional meetings and events, including discussions with non-governmental organizations, government agencies, the media and others, with a view towards expanding OSF’s advocacy and public outreach
- Responsible for coaching staff and developing their skills
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience/education; graduate degree preferred.
- 10 – 15 years of progressively responsible experience in roles relevant to the duties of the position are typically required to develop the skills required for this role.
- Prior experience in managing staff and large programs is highly desirable.
- Experience leading complex initiatives and managing budgets and key elements of strategic/global projects.
- Ability to leverage key relationships to further programmatic goals.
- Experience creating new and innovative practices for improving team performance across multiple countries.
- Proven ability to perform in an advisory role to senior management, including president/CEO level, and board of directors or board committees will also be a requirement.
- Mastery of the field, including familiarity with current controversies/issues and leading figures/thinking.
- Knowledge of philanthropy generally and in their field.
- Extensive knowledge of principles and practices in organizational management and cross-cultural leadership.
- Strong understanding of cultural differences.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English are essential.
