The Amnesty International is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director-Global Trust and Foundation based in London, UK.
The Director-Global Trust and Foundation will serve to provide strategic and operational leadership and ensure the successful implementation of trusts and foundations fundraising strategies for Amnesty International both at the International Secretariat (IS) and the section and structure level and to significantly increase its institutional partnership income over the coming years.
Amnesty International International Secretariat (AIIS), operates from a number of sites around the world, gathers and communicates accurate and action-oriented human rights information globally.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Director-Global Trust and Foundation will perform the following functions-
- Devise and implement the global strategy and guidelines for raising income from Trust and Foundations and other institutional donors.
- Oversee strategic relationships with funders, and develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between the International Secretariat, Amnesty International Sections, funders and prospective funders through appropriate cultivation and stewardship in order to protect and develop AI’s funding constituency
- Maintain an overview of global, regional and local market potential and trends in the wider grants fundraising context and cultivate new funding opportunities.
- Oversee the development and submission of funding proposals to international grant giving bodies.
- Achieve the Operational Plan target and personal target for income secured from trusts and foundations to ensure the International Secretariat has the income for its budgeted activities.
- Oversee the implementation of grant funded projects and advise the Secretary General, Senior
- Leadership Team and relevant Amnesty International leadership as appropriate to ensure donor
- conditions are complied with and Amnesty International’s reputation for grant management is maintained and enhanced. Make sound judgments on projects, with overall responsibility for portfolio of funders and projects.
- Advise teams on project development, production of proposals and budgets; edit and ensure approvals of all grant proposals and solicitation letters to potential funders.
- Direct and contribute towards ensuring a coordinated and integrated approach to fundraising, and financial and organisational development at International Secretariat and section level in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Amnesty International’s fundraising activities.
- Ensure that international best practices in grants management are continually implemented at the
- International Secretariat and sections through the development of systems and procedures and the provision of appropriate training in order to maintain and enhance AI’s reputation and credibility.
- Ensure effective management of the Global Trust and Foundations Programme and budgets and other resources, and contribute to sound leadership of the Global Fundraising and Engagement Directorate.
- Prepare the strategic and operational plans and budgets of the Global Trust and Foundations Programme to ensure co-ordination with the Programme’s overall goals and the International Secretariat’s growth targets.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Extensive experience of developing large scale funding proposals to a variety of trusts, foundations and institutional sources preferably in an international context with a demonstrable record of success.
- Experience of developing and implementing long-term grant-fundraising strategy, co-ordinating inputs from a range of stakeholders and adapting strategies to take account of changes and/or stakeholder needs.
- Experience of developing and nurturing mutually beneficial relationships with funders over long periods of time.
- Experience of leading staff and volunteers and managing people and other resources to achieve agreed objectives.
- Experience in and understanding of the challenges of managing from a distance.
- Proven skills in multi-stakeholder and cross-cultural management.
- Excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to explain complex issues clearly for
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and transformational leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and partners across the movement to deliver on our ambitious fundraising targets.
- Experience of managing competing deadlines and prioritising own workload in a busy environment.
- Proven capacity to plan ahead taking into account a number of factors and using own initiative.
- Experience of developing grant-fundraising strategy, coordinating inputs from other departments and developing own work-plan strategically, taking into account Amnesty International calendar and external funders’ environment.
