Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director, Planned Giving Development in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Director of Planned Giving Development will be responsible for creating current and future revenue for Habitat for Humanity through the various gift planning techniques.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Director, Planned Giving Development will perform the following functions-
- Create and execute a comprehensive planned giving program with a goal to increase the overall number of planned giving donors and the total amount of their gifts.
- Recruit and manage the day to day activities for front-line planned giving professionals to ensure appropriate solicitation of planned gifts. Conduct annual performance reviews, in conjunction with partnerships where appropriate.
- Work directly with gift planners and donors to explore gift giving strategies that balance charitable intent with prudent financial and estate planning, and maintain a portfolio of prospects for cultivation and solicitation of major gifts.
- Work with the Individual Giving team to identify prospects and develop metrics that help gift officers identify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned gifts. Monitor and analyze those metrics.
- Manage a personal portfolio of prospects with 6-8 figure planned giving potential. Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and, as required, their families.
- Collaborate on the maintenance of policies and guidelines for long-term pledges, estate gift commitments, and recognition for donors of planned gifts. Improve systems for maintaining and monitoring donor and prospect information regarding planned giving.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Advanced degree, JD, CFP and/or CFRE certification.
- 10+ years of related work experience, with at least 5 years of substantial, progressively responsible professional experience in an area such as estate law, financial planning, or wealth management, ideally within a nonprofit institution.
- Significant experience managing gifts of tangible personal property and real estate, unitrusts, annuity trusts, bequests, and other deferred giving vehicles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and IRS rulings that effect cash, securities, real estate and personal property gifts to charity.
- Proven success and personal experience in the formation, presentation, and negotiation of high-level gift arrangements, including a track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing six-figure and higher outright and deferred gifts.
- Demonstrated capacity to review legal documents (wills, trusts and other related accounting statements, deeds, IRA and insurance documents) from donors, lawyers, and executors to identify essential criteria related to accepting and planning deferred gifts.
- Practical understanding surrounding all aspects of gift processing, including acknowledgement, receipting and reporting.
- Experience in planning, leading, and managing projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking progress to senior staff and partnership members.
- Willingness to advocate forcefully and to take responsibility for outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to, and inspire the confidence of, donors, their families and their legal and financial advisors, as well as internal colleagues and regional gift planners.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively through donor engagement, and to develop plans of action and follow through.
- Excellent communication and administration skills, including staff development experience and proficiency.
