Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Executive Principal in Uganda.
The Executive Principal will be responsible for the academic provisions, internal organization, and effective management and functioning of the International Schools in Aga Khan Education Services, Uganda.
AKDN’s mission is to improve the welfare and prospects of people in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa, without regard to faith, origin or gender.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Executive Principal will perform the following functions-
- Lead by example, provide inspiration and motivation, and embody for the pupils, staff, and parents the reality of the school’s shared vision.
- Provide educational vision and direction to secure the highest level of achievement for each pupil; sustain the growth of their spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
- Foster a conductive teaching and learning environment which manifests the values and ethos of AKDN and best educational practice.
- Provide instructional and management leadership and educational direction for the primary and secondary schools.
- Drive the repositioning in keeping with the overarching vision and strategic direction.
- Consultation with the Head of Education and Operations (HoE&O), develop a three year school development plan and yearly budgets.
- Drive the academic, sports and after school activities curriculum in accordance with best educational practice and the strategic objectives for AKES,U.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or other relevant degree +PGCE. Post graduate education is an added advantage.
- 7- 10 years’ experience as Deputy Head and/or Head Teacher in an international school.
- Excellent written and spoken English language.
- Proven experience leading KS3, IGCSE and IB curricula.
- Working experience in the East African education environment or other similar African context will be highly desirable.
- Good understanding of, and experience in, curriculum management, design, implementation and evaluation.
- Understanding of effective frameworks for school improvement planning and evaluation.
- High level of inter-personal skills and the ability to work in partnership with school staff, students, parents and other stakeholders.
- A positive leadership style to enable staff development through coaching and support.
- Good administrative, management and organizational skills.
- Cultural awareness, understanding and sensitivity to manage the challenges and opportunities of the local context.
