Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Manager of Student Affairs in Kyrgyz Republic.
The Manager of Student Affairs will be responsible for the overall vision for UCA’s student services such as academic advising, academic support, career planning, student life, residential life, student activities, health and psychological services.
The mission of AKDN is to work to improve the welfare and prospects of people in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa, without regard to faith, origin or gender.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Manager of Student Affairs will perform the following functions-
- Oversee management of all student activities and involvement programs, including but not limited to: advising student government, activities & clubs, overseeing allocation of funds to student government, University clubs and organizations, and participation in cross University athletic and academic meets.
- Serve as primary advisor to the student newspaper and yearbook.
- Oversee management of leadership education programs.
- Co-direct first-year orientation programs with the University Registrar.
- Oversee management of all residence life functions, including but not limited to: residence-based programming, hiring, training, and supervising resident advisor.
- Work with the student affairs staff, student groups and other members of the University community in developing extracurricular programming assuring integration with the academic life of the institution and encouraging student personal growth and development.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to realize key student learning outcomes around life skills development, understanding democracy and civic engagement, and leadership education.
- Coordinate with campus constituencies and community leaders in developing and managing co-curricular learning and service opportunities.
- Coordinate the Annual Parents’ Weekend activities.
- Establishing and operational sing UCA’s code of conduct.
- Assist in resolving disputes and complaints of students and parents.
- Work closely with the Campus Security in addressing student security.
- Establish and administer the policies and regulations of the University as they pertain to students, including internal University judicial and disciplinary procedures.
- Playing the role of a campus wide ombudsman.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A minimum of Bachelors is required, Master’s degree highly desired in student affairs administration, counseling or a related field; Substantial experience in University administration, student affairs/life, counseling, college teaching, or other comparable experience.
- A strong record of achievements in such areas as conflict resolution, residential and housing services, and quality co-curricular programming.
- A sophisticated understanding of how to gather, analyzes, and uses data to develop and assess programs.
- A comprehensive knowledge of the issues and opportunities of a private residential University, a commitment to furthering a high level of cooperation between student affairs and academics.
- A demonstrated commitment to serving students with diverse backgrounds, interest, goals and abilities.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity in all its forms, including a track record of individual action and institutional leadership.
- A demonstrated sensitivity, imagination, and effectiveness in responding to challenging student and University community issues superb written communication skills, and the ability to speak persuasively to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, faculty, donors, and staff.
- A consultative, collegial style and the ability to inspire trust in others.
- A high degree of accessibility and openness to students.
- Advanced English is required.
- Russian is an important asset.
- Working knowledge of Kyrgyz, Tajik, and Kazakh would be an attractive asset.
