TechnoServe is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Operations Director in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The Operations Director will work closely with the program’s Team Lead and the Country Director.
TechnoServe works with enterprising people in the developing world to build competitive farms, businesses and industries.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Operations Director will perform the following functions-
- Manage small team of Finance and Administration professionals to ensure smooth functioning of program operations and finance in accordance with donor and internal regulations.
- Manage and monitor grant tracking/monitoring system, monitoring expenditures in order to identify any irregularities while ensuring compliance.
- Responsible for submission of all financial reports to program donors, and ensure that project financial reporting is done timely and correctly.
- Analyze variances and explore potential problems with program budget, working closely with staff to forecast and address any issues.
- Oversee procurement ll and other administrative functions of the program.
- Collaborate with home office finance to prepare financial reports to the donor.
- Prepare periodic budgetary control statements to determine project financial performance and suggest corrective action, if required.
- Develop and oversee administrative and operational management systems to support all core and field program activities, ensuring that systems, including inventory management, travel approvals, etc. are maintained with accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure project finances and management practices are in compliance with TechnoServe and donor contractual rules and regulations.
- Lease with TechnoServe Finance department to ensure all required audits per Donor Grant Agreements are conducted on time.
- Internal toolkits, best practices information and resources are assembled and readily available to all staff.
- Ensure that best practices from elsewhere are shared into the projects and that new lessons learned are shared with staff.
- Maintain effective project archiving systems.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced degree in Agricultural Economics, Finance, Business Administration or other relevant field.
- At least 8 years relevant project management experience (e.g., international agricultural development programs).
- Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary, and challenging field operations in developing countries, Africa preferred.
- Experience leading and managing multi-cultural teams, preferably with some experience managing remotely.
- Verbal and written fluency in English, strong communication skills.
- Experience living and working in sub-Saharan Africa an advantage, ideally with experience working in Zimbabwe.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Ability to build productive, collaborative working relationships across different organizational functions and effectively manage and coach staff.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite, specifically Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
