Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Policy and Information Officer in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Policy and Information Officer will perform the following functions-
- Deputizing for the Head of the Security Co-operation Unit, as required;
- Providing analysis and advice for the planning, development and execution of Section policy, activities and projects, and for information dissemination.
- Supporting the Head of the Security Co-operation in project management of individual work-streams within the unit, as required.
- Providing analysis and advice to the Head of the Security Co-operation Unit and to the Head of Mission (HoM), as required, on policy matters of the in situations of BiH and international organizations within the area of comprehensive security and politico-military affairs.
- Formulating messages to reflect Mission policy in the area of the OSCE’s First Dimension.
- Collaborating with the Head of the Security Co-operation Unit in the development of Mission comprehensive security and politico-military policy.
- Reviewing output from other Section members, as required, to ensure that policies and information are accurately represented and to ensure appropriate use of language.
- Developing Unit and Mission output in the form of speeches, presentations, reports and memoranda in the security related field as required.
- Supervising three (3) General Service staff.
- Performing other duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree in international relations, political science, security studies, public policy, public administration or another related discipline.
- A minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience in a role requiring policy analysis, reporting, and development and dissemination of strategic communications in an international context.
- Familiarity with the challenges to the inclusive security approach, including the challenges facing women, minorities, and disadvantaged social groups.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the political context and situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
- Familiarity with the OSCE policies, procedures, practices and organizational structure.
- Ability to operate Microsoft Office applications, including word processing and email.
- Experience working in post-conflict societies preferred, as is application of OSCE principles and best practices, including its comprehensive approach to security.
- Knowledge of Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian language(s) is preferred.
- Professional fluency in English, both oral and written.
