Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Health Economist in Paris, France. The duration for the post is of 24 months.
The Senior Health Economist will deliver high-quality comparative analysis of public health and health systems policies, grounded in sound economic analysis, and lead one or more projects in the programme of work of the Health Division.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Health Economist will perform the following functions-
- Applying economic approaches to the analysis of public health issues, including the analysis of the health and economic consequences of health-related behaviors.
- Assessing the factors determining the efficiency and effectiveness of health systems.
- The use of health data for health system performance evaluation.
- Formulate proposals for analytical projects relating to priorities of the Health Committee. Develop work plans geared towards informing policy questions, taking into account time and resource constraints.
- Conduct investigations of health system performance, public health, and evaluations of health policies, undertaking analysis of individual level data from surveys and of other quantitative and qualitative sources of evidence.
- Produce high-quality papers and reports on issues of policy relevance to Health Ministries in OECD countries.
- Contribute to improvement in methodologies used in OECD Health Division, such as the use of computer simulation models and the development of indicators to monitor and analyze the performance of health systems and public health.
- Undertake collection of original data needed for analysis in particular studies.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An advanced university degree in economics, policy analysis, or health economics.
- Eight to ten years’ professional experience of applied economic research on analysis in the area of health policy acquired in a national administration, international organization, university or research centre.
- Experience in managing small project teams of analysts/economists and statisticians.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and carrying out original data collection activities, as well as analysis of individual data from surveys and computer simulation models in support of health policy studies, preferably acquired in a national administration, research institute or an international organization.
- Strong experience in formulating policy-relevant studies and in conducting analysis in a cross-disciplinary context, to draw conclusions based on the evidence, identify policy implications and formulate practical recommendations.
- Broad knowledge of health policy issues in one or more key areas of health policy and public health, demonstrated through publications record or otherwise.
- Excellent knowledge of quantitative and qualitative techniques used in analysis and research in the social sciences.
- Strong knowledge of economic concepts and their application to the health sector, as well as the types of data used in analyses of public health and health systems performance, particularly in a cross-national context.
- An excellent written and oral command of one of the two official languages of the Organization (English and French), including an excellent drafting ability in that language.
- Fluency in the other or another language used in OECD member countries would be an advantage.
