The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Operations Officer in Cairo, Egypt.
WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Operations Officer will perform the following functions-
- Supporting the implementation of the Country Partnership Framework.
- Liaising with government clients and strengthening that interface.
- Strengthening partnerships with development partners and other stakeholders.
- Managing the existing portfolio of loans with a view to helping task teams and clients resolve problems, ensure compliance with World Bank rules and procedures, and accelerate implementation.
- Leading Country Portfolio Performance Reviews jointly with the client and following-up on recommendations.
- Support and facilitate the work of task teams, in problem-solving, client interactions, and delivering results.
- Advising the Country Director of country and program specific issues that warrant attention.
- Representing the Country Director, as needed at external meetings.
- Supporting the Country Director in monitoring the program budget and administrative transactions including banking and office management issues.
- Assisting and advising the Country Director in handling work environment issues.
- Acting as the security focal point per business needs on behalf of the CD and liaising with UNDP on related issues.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience with government agencies and working with development partners would be preferred.
- Strong leadership and team building skills demonstrated through leading multi-disciplinary/ multi-cultural teams in complex tasks across the matrix.
- Broad understanding of links between macro and sector policies.
- Ability to work across a broad range of tasks in parallel, to set priorities, and to achieve results under stress.
- Sensitivity to political economy, social, and cultural factors and ability to analyze complex situations.
- Ability to integrate various Global Practice perspectives into a country-relevant overall approach.
- Excellent inter-personal and diplomatic skills.
- Experience in working in both sophisticated IBRD contexts as well as with a fragile state would be a plus.
