The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Project Management Officer based in Beijing, China.
UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Senior Project Management Officer will perform the following functions-
- Maintain solid relationship with clients and key stakeholders of the Project.
- Manage communications and ensure stakeholders are well informed of project activities, progress and results, and solicit feedback and gauge client satisfaction.
- Take part in negotiations, meetings and follow-up with clients and other key stakeholders.
- Draft Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and other engagement instruments for partnerships.
- Work with the team & clients for effective project implementation, including making inputs to implementation plans, cost analysis and modifications, identification of milestones and other performance indicators to ensure success.
- Manage and ensure quality completion / production of project results / outcomes.
- Ensure that the project produces the required products within the specified tolerance of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits.
- Manage the project implementation in accordance to UNOPS strategies, policies, guidelines and concerned procedures / rules.
- Working with the team to design sales channels, prepare and implement action plans via each channel to continuously strengthen global business linkages.
- Contribute to comparative study & analysis on industry demographic and development trends, to track and screen targeted partnership opportunities for the project.
- Study international best practices / lessons including similar projects in comparable context.
- Identify and negotiate with new partners (e.g. private sector companies) to initiate and formulate collaboration, e.g. drafting concept notes and project briefs for further discussions.
- Support the team to strengthen cooperation with local, regional, national and international agencies to attract suitable companies to the park.
- Examine risks and opportunities resulted from the strategic positioning of the area, and propose appropriate responses to ensure project’s sustainable development.
- Take part in organizing various project events and activities such as business missions, workshops, training activities, etc.
- Represent UNOPS to attend various project related international and local events, coordination and stakeholder meetings when required.
- Other activities or temporary tasks as assigned by the Project Director.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced University Degree (Master or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Investment, International Development, Agriculture & Food Safety.
- A Bachelor Degree with a combination of 2 additional years of relevant professional experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master’s Degree.
- Applicants holding a Master’s degree, must have a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project development and management, with focus on monitoring, reporting, development and coordination in either public or private organizations.
- Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree, must have a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project development and management, with focus on monitoring, reporting, development and coordination in either public or private organizations.
- Solid network in relevant industries to support management, research and outreach.
- Experience in managing similar projects will be an asset.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with international development organizations, foundations or private sector organizations, in Agricultural, Food Safety or other related industries will be a plus.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
